The Travellers Notebook

Travelers notebooks -

Preamble

My father was the only person who used to write and take notes in a book in his company. Everyone else would take notes or write down their things on their laptops or phones. His boss who attended many conferences had many books which he got in the meetings, and all the books would go to my father! A few years later my father switched to fountain pens which is about 5 years ago. He didn’t want to create waste and he always liked to wash, clean and refill his pens and With the same concept in mind he did some research to find a journal that is easy to use and does not create waste. Finally he came across this traveler’s notebook. Then he switched to a leather notebook 2 years back. In order to not create more waste and not to generate plastic which they use to make the book covers.

I also bought a fountain pen at a very early age. and naturally I got fascinated with the books my father had. For my birthday last year my parents made me the book I’ve wanted for a long time. I was really happy! At first I thought this book was bought but my parents told me they had been making this book in the night when I was asleep in my room! The book that my father had was a thin book and he wasn’t so comfortable with it.

My parents and I want to bring these books to more people So I am planning to give these books that my parents and I make.

About the books

The books we are making have thick paper which is 90 gsm (because the books that come with the journal we bought were too thin). and we used thick cardboard for the books. The set come with 2 notebooks it’s a really simple design (it feels fancy to me) made with thick full grained leather. The beauty of leather is that it becomes more beautiful the more it ages! its Refillable and all insert components are changeable. it can also be extended to hold up to 4 books. it comes with 2 blank paper notebooks and an envelope insert. You can carry this book anywhere at all times. It can hold tickets, documents and other things like that. It can be used in different ways like a personal journal for travel/ work/ organizer/ notebook. There are two sizes of books one book that is like a pocket journal that fits notebooks that are 15 mm x 140 mm(or the standard 3.5x5.5 inch pocket notebooks) the bigger one 128 mm x 210 mm which is 20mm less wide than and A5. We came up with this size for the bigger journal after using the ones available in the market for a couple of years and realizing that they were too narrow for journaling. Other similar journals on the internet are hipsters and midori.

How I bring them to you - Everything I got and everything I learned was a gift from my dear ones, my parents, cousins, friends & others. Then I thought it would be a great idea to give what I make as gifts & receive what I need as gifts. 8,000 to 9,000 r.s is how much I need per month to cover my costs and my needs. The small book costs about rs.500 to make and the bigger one rs.1000, This discludes the making charges. So You could give me what I need like sponsoring for my classes, getting the things that I need like a wave board (if you have one) or help me get my gifts by paying how much ever you think you can gladly pay me.
